Don Was & The Pan-Detroit Ensemble celebrate the music of the Grateful Dead on new release

If Don Was retired today, his contributions to music would already put him in a pretty exclusive league. In the 1980s, he co-founded the band Was (Not Was). He’s won six Grammy Awards and produced albums for the Rolling Stones, Bonnie Raitt, Elton John, John Mayer and Willie Nelson, among many others. He’s been at the helm of Blue Note Records since 2011, is an accomplished documentary filmmaker, and in 2018 joined Bob Weir’s band Wolf Bros. The group toured the Grateful Dead and Bob Weir songbook until earlier this year, when Weir passed away.

Children’s Halloween Celebration to parade down Main Street Saturday afternoon

Groups like the Rogue Samba Band, The Witches, and the Ashland Middle School Band will perform during the celebration at the Plaza. Before trick-or-treaters hit the streets, Ashland’s Chamber of Commerce will host the annual Children’s Halloween Celebration and Parade. Youth ski racing opportunities being expanded at Mt. Ashland Ski Area

Youth interested in competitive alpine skiing will have two new ski racing programs to consider for the 2026-27 ski season. The Mt. Ashland Association (MAA) and the Southern Oregon Ski Education Foundation (SOSEF) are “working to ensure that young athletes throughout Southern Oregon continue to have opportunities to develop their skiing abilities, build confidence, and participate in alpine ski racing at Mt.
