Tips Sought in Theft Case
Police are seeking tips in connection with a theft on Halloween. The case is the latest Salina Crime Stoppers crime of the week. Police say on Saturday, October 31, at about 6:00 AM a male suspect entered a fenced yard of a business in the 2400 block of N. 9th Street. While on the property the suspect searched the area eventually stealing copper wire and scrap metal.

Marymount College Documentary to Premeiere
A documentary film about Marymount College, which opened in 1922 and closed in June 1989, is set to premiere. Salina Media Connection’s premiere of “Legacy on the Hill: The Marymount College Story” will be shown Thursday, November 12, at 9:00 p.m. at the Salina Art Center Cinema Theatre. A 7:00 showing is sold out.

Busy Salina Saturday with Crossroads Marathon
SALINA, KAN. - Heads up for Saturday. There will be runners in town for the Crossroads Marathon. "We hope that we get a race that everyone enjoys. Maybe kids do the fun run and others do the marathon. It brings in a lot of runners from surrounding states but we have 47 states," said Daniel Craig, co-race director. Areas near Santa Fe to Ohio from Iron to Crawford will be busy on Saturday.

Mary Ann "Mother" Bickerdyke died 125 years ago, on Nov. 8, 1901. After the war, she helped hundreds of veteran families settle in Kansas and set up shop in frontier Salina. She went to war carrying $500 worth of hospital supplies from Galesburg, Illinois. By the time it ended, generals had praised her by name, and soldiers called her "Mother."

Salina commission to consider 2027 downtown Business Improvement District fees
The Salina City Commission will consider Ordinance No. 26-11300 on Monday, Nov. 9, levying Salina Business Improvement District No. 1 service fees for 2027. The BID Board and Salina Downtown Inc. have recommended no increase for 2027. Budgeted BID fees paid to SDI for 2027 are $130,000, the same as the 2026 budgeted amount.
