Game wardens with the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks say that on Nov. 25, the Dickinson Co. Game Warden was called to the southern part of Clay Co. - about 2.5 miles northwest of Manchester off Frontier Rd. - with reports of a poached deer.

Emporia man arrested in Council Grove on suspicion of drug distribution near school
The Morris County Drug Enforcement Unit says it has arrested an Emporia man on suspicion of distributing drugs near a school. The arrest happened Thursday night as part of a traffic stop in the 1000 block of East Main in Council Grove, about two blocks east of Council Grove Elementary School. A news release says 36-year-old John Salazar was arrested on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute the drug within 1,000 feet of a school, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia and possesison of marijuana.

Kansas Wildlife and Parks Respond to Call of Poached Deer
On their Facebook page, the Kansas Wildlife and Parks – Game Wardens page shared that on November 25th, The Dickinson County Game Warden responded to a call about a poached deer. The deer, found in southern Clay County about 2 1/2 miles Northwest of Manchester just off Frontier Road, was a headless buck that appeared to have been shot with a rifle.
Manhattan woman sent to hospital after semi-truck collides with SUV
SOLOMON, Kan. (WIBW) - A Manhattan woman was taken to an Abilene hospital after her SUV was rear-ended by a semi-truck on I-70 near Solomon. The Kansas Highway Patrol Crash Log indicates that around 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 24, emergency crews were called to the area of mile marker 267.3 on westbound I-70 - about 1 mile east of Solomon - with reports of a 2-vehicle collision.

Saline County Sheriff’s Notes 11-27-23
No one was injured after a vehicle fire on Saturday evening. Deputies report the owner of a 2004 Ford Ranger was sitting in the vehicle warming it up in the parking lot at Stryten Energy in the 400 block of E. Berg Road. A fire started under the truck and a crew from Salina Fire Department arrived before the vehicle was destroyed. No one was hurt.
