SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — A man was accused of animal neglect after a dog was found in an unhealthy living environment.

Court documents state that Uriah Jordan Buffalochief Torrez, 35, was the owner of a shepherd mixed breed dog who was one year old.

Between April 15 to 30, Buffalochief Torrez allegedly failed to provide adequate food, water, sanitary living conditions, and appropriate veterinary care. As a result, the dog died.

When Animal Control came to get the dog, they said it was still locked in the filthy kennel covered in maggots in the defendant’s home.

Buffalochief Torrez was arrested on a warrant on May 9, and charged with animal neglect, an aggravated misdemeanor. He was booked into the Woodbury County Jail and released without bond.

His next court appearance is scheduled for the morning of May 29.
