Sinton athletes end season at regional meet
Several Sinton High School athletes competed at the Region IV-4A track meet last weekend, but saw their season come to an end. The Pirates' Jonah James finished 11th in the boys' triple jump with a best of 40 feet, 8.25 inches in the final, and Logan Ohler was eighth in the boys' pole vault after clearing a height of 13 feet. Christian Jardon was 14th in the boys' 1600 meters with a final run of 5:00.50, and Izabella Ohler finished 11th in the girls' 3200 meters after running a 12.17.81 in the final.
Bicyclist seriously injured after being struck by vehicle near Ayers Street
Police responded to a crash that happened early Friday morning near the intersection of Ayers Street and Gollihar Road, seriously injuring a bicyclist. Corpus Christi Police Department officers were dispatched at 3:36 a.m. April 19 to the 4500 block of Ayers Street in reference to a major traffic accident involving a pedal cyclist. They arrived to find a 34-year-old man with serious injuries at the site of the crash. Medics arrived and transported the man to a local hospital, where he was later listed in critical condition.

Abandoned house fire shuts down highway in Mathis early Friday morning
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Highway SH359 in Mathis is open once again after being blocked off by emergency personnel early Friday morning. San Patricio County Fire Marshal Scott Marion told 3NEWS no one was injured when the abandoned house went up in flames some time before 5 a.m. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
