Mural Fest to bring more public art to Starland District

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Seven local artists will public murals expressing the theme Starland Soul to be unveiled Friday, Nov. 6 at Mural Fest at Savanah Village. The mixed-use development on Bull Street in Starland District commissioned a Georgia-themed mural by Sam Malpass for the face of its building. Mural Fest will be held in Artist’s Alley, on the north side of the building, where the murals with interpretations of Starland Soul will be permanently displayed.

Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum hosts light and sound voyage exhibition

Artisans Break Down the Tricks and Treats of Designing a Trojan Horse at SCAD Savannah Film Festival

As part of the SCAD Savannah Film Festival , IndieWire’s Future of Filmmaking team presents “Behind Their Lens,” a series of panel discussions with some of the most exciting artisans, directors, and producers of 2026. On the artisans panel, “ The Odyssey ” production designer Ruth de Jong, “Paper Tiger” and “ I Play Rocky ” costume designer Amy Roth, and “ Disclosure Day ” editor Sarah Broshar spoke to students and guests about their process and approaches towards each of their particular corners of the giant puzzle that is putting a film together. Ruth Madeley Never Thought Acting Was an Option -- Now, She's Playing a Disability Rights Legend in 'Being Heumann' But there was one thing that united all of them, across their different creative disciplines, and that was the importance of (sometimes quite literally) climbing hilltops to create a sense of authentic surprise. If a costume designer can delight a director without being asked for something specific, then the movie is alive. If the editor’s intuitive sense of rhythm is working in harmony with the footage that’s been shot, then in a lot of respects the film is showing the post team what it wants to be.

Two historical sculptures find a new home after sitting in storage for over a century

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - A few pieces of Savannah’s educational and architectural history found a new home at Savannah Technical College. The Savannah-Chatham County Public School System said they found two small-scale sculptures created by Savannah sculptor John Walz sitting in the attic of the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System’s Central Office Building at 208 Bull Street. Officials said the sculptures had been stored there since 1901.
