Fatal Accident on Jefferies Boulevard
A single vehicle accident occurred on North Jefferies Blvd., Thursday afternoon May 15th. The SUV left the roadway and struck a tree and power pole. The male driver suffered multiple traumatic injuries and was unconscious in the vehicle. Colleton County Fire-Rescue, the City of Walterboro Fire Department and Police Responded. Fire Rescue treated the man at the scene, then transported him to Colleton Medical Center. The driver did not survive his injuries. The Walterboro Police Dept. is investigating the crash.

Coroner hosts National Fentanyl Awareness Day event in Ridgeland
A framed list of dates which would rather be forgotten sat on a table as a solemn reminder of those lives lost to fentanyl in Jasper County over the last three years. The list, along with a candle and balloons represented the toll the drug has taken within the county.
