Mother, daughter found stabbed to death in Northeast Philadelphia basement, police say
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Two women, who appear to be mother and daughter, were found stabbed to death in the basement of a home in Philadelphia's Crescentville section Tuesday afternoon, police said. Police responded to the Northeast Philadelphia home in the 6000 block of Bingham Street just after 1:30 p.m. Investigators said they found two women — a 75-year-old and a 58-year-old — both suffering several stab wounds in the basement of the home. Philadelphia Police Department Deputy Commissioner Frank Vanore said the 75-year-old appears to be the mother of the 58-year-old.Emergency response crews pronounced both women dead at 1:45 p.m. Police have yet to identify a motive or make an arrest.Vanore said they're in the early stages of the investigation and interviewing neighbors and family members. The stabbing doesn't appear to be a home invasion, he added. Vanore said an officer was let inside the home by a neighbor. The doors were locked when police arrived, he added. The department's homicide unit is actively investigating the incident.Vanore said police plan to use video from homes on Bingham Street as part of their investigation.

A young man in his 20s was fatally shot following an ambush on the 5400 block of Baltimore Avenue in West Philadelphia, authorities confirmed. According to 6abc, four men emerged from a vehicle and discharged a barrage of 43 shots at the victim. MOUNT LAUREL, NJ — The Mount Laurel Police Department (MLPD) is asking for the public's help in identifying a man suspected of shoplifting from a Township store. According to the MLPD, patrol officers responded to Dick's Sporting Goods, located at 1300 Nixon Drive, on May 21 for a report of a shoplifting incident. A male (pictured) allegedly put $170 worth of Nike items into a bag and left the store without paying for the merchandise. He was then seen leaving the area before officers arrived in a vehicle described as an older-model gray Ford sedan. BURLINGTON COUNTY, NJ. - Numerous phones and other electronics were stolen from a Burlington County Verizon store in an armed robbery Wednesday night, according to police. Evesham police were called to the Verizon store at 930 W. Route 70 for a reported armed robbery at 6:30 p.m. No employees were injured.
