Seattle University, GCU coming to the West Coast Conference

The Gonzaga Bulldogs are gaining new conference foes later this year with Washington State and Oregon State. Now, the conference announced two more schools will join the WCC next year.

The WCC will welcome both Seattle University and Grand Canyon University starting in 2025. Both of these universities come from the Western Athletic Conference (WAC).

The WCC will expand to 11 full time members and 13 when you include WSU and OSU for the next two seasons.

The idea of expansion is important for conferences these days when you see how all the money in college sports is being consolidated into a few power players.

"Additionally it improves our geographic footprint of the conference bringing on two major markets like Seattle and the City of Phoenix and all in all from a broadcast standpoint, a scheduling standpoint, and a recruiting standpoint we really feel that this is a beneficial partnership for our conference and the two institutions," said WCC commissioner Stu Jackson.
