Since 2022, former NBA guard and three-time Slam Dunk Contest champion Nate Robinson has been battling renal kidney failure and undergoing treatment.

In the time since then, Robinson’s condition has deteriorated, and the former Washington Huskies standout is in dire need of a kidney transplant.

On Monday, the school announced it was teaming up with Robinson to try and aid the two-time All-Pac 12 guard in his search.

“Husky legend Nate Robinson needs a kidney from a donor with blood type A+ or O. Help us spread the word with this link to register,” the post states. If you click the link, you’re taken to a page where you can fill out some basic information about your demographics and medical background and leave a phone number or email for UW Health to reach out with more details.

Shining light on Robinson’s troubles and putting out a call to action that may result in a much larger potential donor pool is obviously great for both Washington and Robinson.

A Seattle native, Robinson was selected by the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the 2005 NBA Draft and traded to the New York Knicks where he spent his first five seasons and won all three of his Dunk Contests. After the Knicks traded him to the Boston Celtics in 2010, Robinson would go on to play for six more teams before retiring in 2015.
