SEA GIRT — This past Saturday, April 20, a group of volunteers took to both Edgemere and Stations parks for Sea Girt Conservancy’s “Mulch Madness” beautification day.

The event also honored community members for National Volunteer Week and the continuous contributions they make throughout the year.

National Volunteer Week is observed annually between April 21 and April 27, which volunteernow.org describes as, “an opportunity to recognize the impact of volunteer service and the power of volunteers to tackle society’s greatest challenges, to build stronger communities and be a force that transforms the world.”

“Sea Girt Mulch Madness proved to be a productive and enjoyable event,” said said Sea Girt Conservancy member and borough councilwoman, Diane Anthony.

From 9 to 11 a.m., resident volunteers, conservancy members, department of public works members, the Shade Tree Commission, Sea Girt Fire Department and borough council members all participated in the revitalization efforts.
