A Canyon Country man was arrested for felony DUI Monday, after he was allegedly seen driving while drinking alcohol.

Around 3:30 p.m. Monday, deputies responded to the 19000 block of Lonerock Street regarding a possible driving under the influence call, said Deputy Kabrina Borbon, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station .

“It was reported that the driver was drinking alcohol. Upon deputies arrival, they observed the reported vehicle driving away from the location while making multiple vehicle code violations,” Borbon said.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle.

While contacting the suspect, deputies detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from the suspect’s breath and person.

Jorge Enriquez, 40, from Canyon Country, was arrested for felony DUI, according to Sheriff’s booking logs.

A person is charged with felony DUI if they are arrested with four offenses within 10 years, or if they injure someone else other than themself.

However, Sheriff’s officials did not specify why Enriquez was charged with a felony.

He was booked into the SCV Sheriff’s Station and remains in custody as of Wednesday morning.
