49ers QB Brock Purdy struggles for accuracy on ceremonial first pitch at Giants-Dodgers game

Brock Purdy was extremely accurate for the San Francisco 49ers last season, with 75 percent of his throws on target.

His first pitch ahead of the San Francisco Giants' game with the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday did not have ideal placement.

Purdy followed in the footsteps of teammates Fred Warner and Deebo Samuel, who each threw out a pitch ahead of the Giants' home opener earlier in the MLB season, by taking to the mound.

While he fared significantly better than both Samuel and Warner, who struggled to keep the ball over the plate, Purdy's effort was far from accurate.

His pitch was high and had a lot of heat. Though Giants pitcher Kyle Harrison — playing the role of catcher —was able to get a glove on it, he could not reel it in.

Several quarterbacks have baseball in their background and have even earned professional contracts. Purdy's father Shawn was a minor league baseball player, but on this evidence it doesn't appear as if there's much chance of the 49ers' star quarterback trying his hand as a two-sport athlete.
