NBA analyst doubts fit for Chris Paul on the San Antonio Spurs next season

Would veteran Golden State Warriors point guard Chris Paul make sense on the San Antonio Spurs next season? There have been rumbles connecting the future Hall of Famer to the Spurs as a potential free agent target to put a capable point guard next to San Antonio rookie phenom Victor Wembanyama next season.

But would the fit be a good one and Paul potentially interested in signing with the Spurs while they are in the midst of a rebuild near the twilight of his career in the league? If you ask Bleacher Report’s Greg Swartz, it seems pretty unlikely to end up happening. “From the Spurs’ perspective, this is a no-brainer if the price is right,” writes Swartz.

“Paul being around Victor Wembanyama and a young Spurs nucleus would be tremendous for their development and increased knowledge of the game,” he adds.

“From Paul’s perspective, a move to San Antonio makes no sense,” counters the B/R analyst. “Playing what could be his final season on a team that doesn’t even look playoff ready would cost Paul a chance at winning his first championship.”

“There’s a geography concern as well, as Paul’s wife and kids continue to reside in Los Angeles.”
