PCUN leaders announced that the group will join many other groups, including CAPACES, union organizers and the Oregon Food Bank, to take part in the noon rally in Salem, Wednesday, May 1, for an International Workers Day celebration.

The midday rally will gather at the Oregon State Capitol where there will be speeches and vital resource booths, and where a march around the Capitol block is scheduled. On Monday Salem Police issued a map of the rally march route to advise motorists and other downtown visitors.

“Let’s unite and demonstrate our deep appreciation for the hardworking and dedicated individuals who keep our society moving forward,” urged a flyer issued by PCUN Communications Director Patti Verduzco.

The flyer noted that 2023 marked a significant milestone for workers’ rights, and the aim is to continue that momentum.

“We demand Housing For All, A Pathway to Citizenship for ALL Undocumented Workers, Fully Funded Public Schools, Union Rights for EVERY Worker, and a Ceasefire in Palestine,” the flyer highlighted.

Acclaimed radio host Oscar Ramos, a prominent voice for community change, will be among the movement’s hosts.
