PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A 49-year-old Salem man, already wanted on domestic violence charges, now faces charges of mail and identity theft after his arrest Monday following a 7-hour standoff.

Brett Todd Regimbal refused to come out of his home around 1200 14th Avenue NW, Salem police said. A SWAT unit was called along with the Crisis Negotiation Team, but once the efforts to coax him out were exhausted, a Salem K9 went into the house and got him.

Authorities said after he was arrested, a house search — with the US Postal Inspection Service –found more evidence of mail theft, ID theft and fraud, plus meth and some suspected fentanyl.

Among the evidence of mail theft were counterfeit mail keys, officials said.

Regimbal was booked into the Polk County Jail after he was treated for a dog bite on a variety of charges: Possession of a burglary tool, ID theft, criminal possession of a forged instrument, interfering with a police officer, strangulation plus outstanding warrants from Marion and Yamhill counties.
