Fan Arrested After Beer Bottle Toss at Rays Game Injures Bystander

St. Petersburg, FL - A Tampa Bay Rays fan who allegedly threw a beer bottle into the stands during a game over the weekend was arrested for injuring a bystander.

According to police reports, 29-year-old Eric Pfeifer became involved in a fight with another spectator during the Rays' game against their division rivals, the New York Yankees, at Tropicana Field.

The argument escalated, leading Pfeifer to hurl an aluminum beer bottle into the stands.

Police say the bottle missed its intended target and struck an unsuspecting bystander in the head, causing a cut.

The injured party was not involved in the original argument.

Pfeifer was arrested and charged with aggravated battery.

He was later released on a $5,000 bond.
