Hillsborough County, FL - A high-speed chase on Interstate 275 in Hillsborough County landed a St. Petersburg man behind bars on Monday.

The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) identified the suspect as 22-year-old Tayvion Robinson.

Robinson now faces charges of reckless driving, fleeing to elude law enforcement at high speeds, and driving without a valid license.

The incident began around 11:20 am when troopers spotted Robinson weaving through traffic in a northbound black Dodge Charger on I-275.

Clocking Robinson at over 110 mph in a 60 mph zone west of SR-688, FHP attempted a traffic stop.

Robinson, however, disregarded the sirens and continued to accelerate, reaching speeds exceeding 147 mph.

The chase continued onto local roads, with Robinson reportedly running a red light and colliding with two other vehicles before regaining control on South Lois Avenue.

FHP successfully deployed a PIT maneuver, a technique used to disable fleeing vehicles.

Despite this, Robinson and two passengers attempted to escape on foot.

Law enforcement swiftly established a perimeter, and Robinson was apprehended and returned to the scene.

The details surrounding the other passengers and the extent of damage from the collisions remain undisclosed.
