‘Where are the parents?’: Neighbor reacts after teens killed in apparent murder-suicide in St. Pete

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — Regina Roberson knew something was wrong on Saturday after she noticed two teens in distress, running down her street on Saturday night.

Deputies responded to a home on Grove Park Avenue North after a 14-year-old girl and 17-year-old Hector Pfeiffer were shot. The 14-year-old died at the scene, and Pfeiffer died at an area hospital.

Deputies said four teens had been partying at the home, where Pfeiffer was dog sitting. Deputies said Pfeiffer had met two girls online and invited them to the home, and that the teens consumed alcohol, marijuana  and cocaine throughout the night.

“It is sad because where are the parents?” Roberson wondered. “What is going on with the parents, the new millennials kids? It is not like when we were growing up. We had to be home when the streetlights came on, like what is going on.”

Investigators said the teens had taken pictures with a gun. Moments later, things escalated and Pfeiffer shot the 14-year-old before turning the gun on himself.

“The girl said he done went in a found the owner gun, and him and the girl were arguing because she did not want to have sex with him,” Roberson added.

Two other teens watched the scene unfold before running out into the neighborhood.

“It was crazy, and she was crying and panicking all over the ground,” Roberson said.

The sheriff’s office said no arrests were made in connection with the incident.
