Anna ‘Lorene’ Shute passed away on April 25, 2024, exactly 6 years to the day of the departure of much loved husband, Kenneth. She was born July 10, 1930 in Yanceyville, North Carolina to Addie Hubbard Knight and Walter Knight. She married Ken in 1958 and they had 60 years together before his passing. They traveled together and raised a family while in the Air Force for 20 years and then settled in Ken’s family home in Searsport. They purchased and ran Belfast Glass Company out of the garage for many years.
Cody departs as regional EMA director
David Cody has resigned as regional emergency management agency director. Since 2021, Cody has served as director for Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor and Southport. On April 24, Boothbay Town Manager Dan Bryer reported Cody’s resignation. “This was an immediate resignation, and all I know is this was a personal decision,” Bryer said.
