Festival season in Sacramento: 2024 outdoor music events happening in the capital city

(FOX40.COM) — As warm warmer makes its way to Sacramento, several outdoor live music events will feature some star performers.

Some events are set to begin in the springtime and last up until the fall and most of Sacramento festivals already have lineups announced.

Here are the festivals taking place in Sacramento this summer.

Sol Blume

R&B superstar SZA, Snoh Aalegra and Kaytramine will headline this year’s Sol Blume festival at Discovery Park in May.

Sacramento’s annual R&B, soul and hip-hop festival will take place over three days from May 3 to May 5. The 2024 edition of the festival will mark the first time it has expanded to three days.

Other artists slated to take the stage include Wale, Masego, Sir, PartyNextDoor, Ari Lennox, Doechii, and PinkPantheress.

Concerts in the Park

Sacramento’s annual free concert series Concerts in the Park is returning for its 31st year at Cesar Chavez Plaza this summer.

The weekly concert series will run on Friday evenings from May 3 through July 26 and will take the off on July 5.

The 2024 lineup includes 60 national and local bands and DJs from a variety of genres. Headliners include Bay Area rapper Kool John, Destroy Boys, Michael Marcagi, Felix Cartel, and Arden Park Roots.

Country in the Park

Hosted by country music station 105.1 KNCI, Country in the Park is returning to Cal Expo for its 24th year on May 17 and May 18.

Brantley Gilbert, Dustin Lynch, and Walker Hayes will headline the two-day event. Other artists expected to perform include Michael Ray, Brian Kelley of Florida Georgia Line, Ingrid Andress, Priscilla Block, Chase Matthew and Drew Baldrige.

Arenas, clubs, amphitheaters: The Sacramento venues to watch concerts

AAPI Night Market

Hosted by Sacramento Asian Pacific Chamber of Commerce, the AAPI Night Market is returning for its third year at Capital Mall on May 31.

Rapper and Bay Area native P-Lo and music producer/DJ TOKiMONSTA are this year’s music headliners.

Aside from live entertainment, the event will feature numerous food, retail, beer and wine vendors for attendees to enjoy.

Sad Summer Festival 2024

Sacramento’s newest outdoor music venue, The B a ckyard, will host the Sad Summer Festival on July 11.

The festival will feature a traveling group of emo and punk bands with Mayday Parade and The Maine listed as the headliners. Other bands taking the stage include the Wonder Years and We The Kings.

New music venue under construction in midtown Sacramento

California State Fair

The California State Fair is slated to have a lineup of a variety of artists for its Toyota Concert Series.

Rapper Flo Rida and country singer Chris Young were announced as the fair’s first two performers. Young will perform on July 18 while Flo Rida will take the stage on July 28.

The California State Fair will take place from July 12 through July 28. Each day will have a performer and more artists are expected to get announced as the fair gets closer.

All shows for the concert series are free with admission, but seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Guests could buy reserved seating for the concert series for $25.
