Ramaswamy pressed on public school funding in Wauseon
WAUSEON — Larry Zimmerman, the president of Wauseon’s school board, had an emergency meeting at 4 p.m. Monday about the school district’s levy on the November ballot. Then at 7 p.m., the school district held a meeting to share more information about the levy. However, instead of attending the school district’s meeting, Mr. Zimmerman sat in the front row of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7424 with a question for Republican gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy. “What is your administration’s plan to fully fund public schools?” Mr. Zimmerman asked the candidate. “Because school choice in northwest Ohio is the public school system, and our schools are not the ones that are failing our students. President Rob McColley (R., Napoleon), and the Republican nominee for Ohio’s 9th congressional district, Derek Merrin. The candidate thanked Mr. Zimmerman for the question and said he believes the current system penalizes schools that are doing well while rewarding those that are doing worse. “This is an example of where I expect to work with people in both parties,” Mr. Ramaswamy said. “There’s bipartisan support
