FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (WFXR)– The Virginia Department of Transportation is reporting delays on Rt. 748 in Franklin County due to a crash in the vicinity of Franklin St. As of 4:49 p.m., all west and all east lanes are closed. Traffic is currently being detoured onto Sawmill Rd., to VA-40, and back off the highway and onto Turners Creek Rd.

Two men were hospitalized after a shooting in NW Roanoke early Thursday morning. Police initially did not find evidence of a shooting but were flagged down by a resident who reported an injured person inside a home. In another incident, documents revealed that a fatal shooting in October occurred during an attempted robbery. The homeowner stated that he had been texting the deceased man about a marijuana sale. Additionally, Roanoke firefighters responded to a structure fire on Centre Ave, and crews battled a brush fire near a FedEx facility on Thirlane Road.
