ROCHESTER, N.Y. ( WETM ) – Investigator Michael Theetge is showing improvement in his recovery journey as he announced this afternoon in a Facebook post that was shared by the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office that he will be leaving in-patient care today.

Theetge announced on Wednesday, May 15, that he is being released from in-patient rehab and will continue treatment with out-patient rehab after sustaining severe brain trauma during a hit-and-run incident that occurred in Big Flats on March 29 .

At this time, Theetge is still facing challenges with his condition, as he writes that he can’t hear out of his right ear and is numb on the entire right side of his body.

“This has been a challenging time as a brain injury does not respond as other injuries do, and I’m repeatedly reminded I have to give it time to recover,” stated Theetge.

Theetge continues by stating that while he is happy to be on the next step to recovery, he is anxious to get back to normalcy.

He expressed gratitude to his family, the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office and the entire community that has shown support for him during this time as he works his way to recovery.
