ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A virtual town hall was held Monday evening to discuss the potential removal of Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley from office.

This meeting comes after Doorley was captured on body-worn camera arguing with a police officer and refusing his commands. She refused to pull over when an officer tried stopping her. She was given a speeding ticket and paid $183.

Local advocacy group Save Rochester used Monday’s town hall to bring attention to what they say are disparities between minorities, and those in positions of power. Many at the meeting said this was a clear abuse of power, and urged the governor to step in and use her powers to oust Doorley.

Defense attorneys and advocates have been calling for her resignation ever since the video went viral. This virtual meeting, held by Save Rochester, is the second after protesters took to the streets of the City of Rochester.

Doorley has since apologized for the incident , admitting she did not treat the police officer with respect. She initially referred the matter to Onondaga County DA William J. Fitzpatrick, but after Governor Hochul referred her case to the NYS Commission on Prosecutorial Conduct, Fitzpatrick and Doorley agreed that was the proper forum for examination.

The virtual town hall was open to the public to attend.
