BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. ( WKRG ) — Local law enforcement and first responders came out to the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office’s annual Law Enforcement Memorial this morning.

The ceremony, held at the Baldwin County Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Robertsdale, is about honoring and remembering law enforcement officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.

On the monument, which was dedicated on June 15, 2001, a plaque reads that it is “dedicated to those in the law enforcement profession who made the ultimate sacrifice in the conduct of their duties in protecting the citizens of Baldwin County.”

The monument also shows the names of Baldwin County law enforcement who died in the line of duty. During the ceremony, deputies brought a floral wreath stand, played trumpets, and saluted to those who died in service.

“We are very fortunate that we did not have to add any names today, but what’s also important is that we continue to memorialize and remember those individuals whose names are on this monument,” he said.

Following the ceremony the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office shared that the Central Baldwin Chamber hosted its annual “Honoring Our Heroes” luncheon at PZK Hall, which first responders were invited to attend and enjoy a BBQ lunch.
