SPD are investigating home invasion that left one dead
Springfield police are investigating a reported home invasion that left one man dead. A call to 911 sent police to a home in the 11-hundred block of South 19th Street Friday afternoon. The caller told police he had confronted someone inside the residence. Police found a 33-year-old man inside the home with a stab wound. He was taken to HSHS St. John’s Hospital, where he died of his injuries.

116 Illinois nonprofits awarded $20 million in IEMA grants for enhanced security
Grants awarded through the Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) to help organizations protect against public safety and security threats. Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) recently announced that $20 million in grants have been awarded to 116 non-profit organizations across the state through the 2023 Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP). The funding will be used to help organizations strengthen efforts to protect against public safety and security threats. Many of the grantees are places of worship, reproductive health providers, cultural institutions, and education centers who were deemed at high-risk of a terrorist attack.
