Arrest made in connection to Woodspring Suites fatal stabbing
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) - The Grand Junction Police Department (GJPD) continued investigation efforts of a homicide that happened on May 14th. The incident occurred around approximately 8:50 p.m. at the Woodspring Suites located at 659 Market Street. The GJPD received a report of an unresponsive male, upon arrival the male was discovered with a suspected knife wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene. The man was later identified as 38-year-old Dustin Nalls of Parachute, Colorado.
Update: Part of I-70 still closed westbound
I-70 has been opened at mile marker 116 eastbound, Glenwood Springs. Westbound mile marker 133, Dotsero, remains closed, according to an alert from the Garfield County Emergency Communications Authority. The closure is due to a vehicle fire; no more information has been given at this time.

Although we placed second we are ever so grateful to the locals who continue to support our small enterprise for more than 27 years. Defiance recently had their annual partnership meeting and awards ceremony. Over $40,000 were distributed to Advocate Safehouse, Mountain Valley Developmental Services, Riverbridge, Great Expectations and Lift-UP. This is an evening that brings together our community support and spirit. We cannot express enough thanks to those valley donors who have weathered the construction on the 27th street project and stood still in traffic just to get into our parking lot. And to our ever faithful customer base we look forward to another year of pleasant and fun filled shopping experiences.
Man attempts to steal Rifle Police Department patrol vehicle
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - Earlier this week, a suspect broke into the Rifle Police Department (RPD) and attempted to steal a patrol vehicle, authorities reported. After noticing headlights in the RPD parking lot, a RPD officer discovered an adult male driving a RPD patrol vehicle. The driver, identified as Manuel Alberto Cabrera, was arrested without resistance. Further investigation revealed that Cabrera broke into the RPD, stole a radio and keys, and attempted to take a patrol vehicle.

A man was arrested early Tuesday morning after attempting to steal a Rifle Police Department vehicle. A news release from the Rifle Police Department today stated that this morning at approximately 12:50 a.m., a Rifle police officer arrived at the police department and saw headlights in the department’s parking lot. An officer contacted the adult male before he was able to leave the department’s parking lot.
