Main Street closures coming up as reconstruction project comes to conclusion

The finishing touches to the Rice Lake Main Street reconstruction project will be added over the next two weeks and the road will be closed to vehicle traffic for a few days.

Removal and replacement of defective concrete sidewalk is anticipated to take approximately three days next week, likely beginning Tuesday or Wednesday, said SEH, the city’s civil engineering firm that is overseeing the project. The street will not be closed for this work. Concrete trucks and other construction equipment will be parked in the parking lanes during this time.

Sometime in the next two weeks, Main Street will be closed to through traffic for one day on two separate occasions for the replacement of the defective catenary lights, SEH reported. For the Newton intersection work, Main Street will be closed to through traffic from Messenger to Eau Claire streets. For the Eau Claire intersection work, Main Street will be closed to through traffic from Newton to Marshall streets.

The closure dates will be released when they are scheduled.
