The winner of the 2024 Kentucky Derby has a Marion County connection, according to the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders' and Owners' Association. Mystik Dan, which won by a nose, was "trained by conditioner Ken McPeek at his Silverleaf Hills Training Center in Summerfield," according to the FTBOA. The horse went off at 18-1 odds.

Light Up Racing Holds May 5 Event in Ocala
After two successful launch events in Lexington, Light Up Racing will hold an event May 5 in Ocala, Fla., hosted by the Ocala Breeders' Sales Company. The Light Up Racing presentation will be centered around the importance of proper techniques to talk to your community about horse racing, how to answer difficult questions from those outside the industry, and transforming negative opinions into positive messaging. Vols and Gators postponed in Gainesville
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Thursday night’s series opener between No. 3/3 Tennessee and Florida was postponed due to inclement weather in Gainesville.
