Jealous Dunnellon man allegedly chokes woman in RV during argument over male friend
A 46-year-old Dunnellon man was arrested for allegedly choking a woman in an RV during an argument over her relationship with a male friend. On Wednesday, one of the victim’s co-workers contacted the Marion County Sheriff’s Office to report that the victim had been battered by Michael Reid Truax. The victim had called the co-worker and allegedly stated that Truax had “grabbed her by the neck” and “strangled her,” according to the MCSO report.
Armed trespassing suspect shot by Marion deputies
A 59-year-old trespassing suspect who was openly carrying a revolver was shot by Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies after he allegedly pointed his firearm at them. On Wednesday, September 20, deputies responded to the 10500 block of Highway 41, just north of Dunnellon, to follow up on a trespassing complaint. Upon arrival, they located a man on the property who was violating a previous trespass warning that had been issued three days earlier, according to the MCSO report.
