For generations the Port Hotel in Port Washington was one of the premier locations for fine dining and fancy brunches in Ozaukee County. Over time the menu and decor had become outdated, and the restaurant closed in 2017. Mary Morano searched for weeks to find a great horned owl nest, and when she found one on the west side of Port Washington she was delighted to find it was home to two baby owls. She returned to the vicinity several times, and recently saw that the babies had almost grown up and were just about ready to leave the nest. Riveredge Nature Center in the Town of Saukville was filled with winged creatures Saturday, but not just the usual birds and insects. Instead, fairies descended on the center for Fairy Fest to celebrate the creatures of mythology and lore as well as the flying beings that inhabit Riveredge. Among those participating in the fun were Ingrid Wolff, Ellie Nelson and Gretchen Wolff (left). Inside the center, Zoey and Ivy Ristau enjoyed a fruity fairy potion. That’s where the Lake Michigan Bird Observatory hosted a day of events on Saturday, May 20, in Port Washington’s Veterans Park. June 6, 2023 – West Bend, WI – A couple of kids in the Samuel family from Holy Angels School got to ride home in style as they were picked up in a big green tractor by farmer Rick from Roden Farms. The ride home was part of the silent auction during the Gifts from the Heart event this past March.
