What's in a name?: Exploring the roots of 'Schleisinger', the community that came to be known as Slinger
SLINGER, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Schleisingerville to Slinger. What's in a name? A lot at least for me. I knew I had to do this story after two random people, all in one week, suggested I do some research and report on how the Village of Slinger in Washington County got its name from Baruch Schleisinger Weil, a French native. He settled in the area in the mid-1840 right before Wisconsin become a state. And the rest, like they say, is history. By the way, the spelling is almost identical to mine except he has an extra "i" in his last name.

Student Group Restores Disc Golf Course
When he saw a group of disc golf baskets collecting dust under the football bleachers, West Bend East High School special education teacher Ryan Olson had an idea. The nine baskets were originally part of a disc golf course installed 10 years ago, but within a year one of the baskets was stolen and another was broken. The course fell into disrepair, and the remaining baskets were stored under the bleachers. While walking the track recently, Olson saw them and thought the WBHS student environmental group Saving Earth Every Day (SEED) could use them as a starting point for a new and improved on-site disc golf course.

K9 Cade is named after Cade, a 14-year-old boy who lost his life in a car accident in 2017. Sheriff’s officials say Cade loved all the attention from those in attendance at the event. Afterwards, Berndt’s Family Farms donated over $1,000 to the Dodge County K9 fund. Officials say that donations to the fund are greatly appreciated as they help pay for food, medical bills, equipment, and training for their K9 teams.
