Sacramento rats, food recalls and a new Roseville restaurant. Here's what to know
Sacramento-area residents have a mix of news to track this Thursday, from pest problems to pantry safety to a new dining option. Here’s a quick look at three stories making headlines. Sacramento ranked No. 20 on Orkin’s 2026 list of the 50 worst U.S. cities for rodent infestations, and a Terminix home inspector told The Bee that rats and mice seek warmth and shelter indoors during colder months , squeezing through holes as small as a dime to nest in walls. October brought a wave of food recalls affecting California shoppers , including WinCo salsa bean dip trays tied to peperoncini from a company linked to a dead mouse video, a frozen lemon alfredo fettuccine sold at Walmart for possible listeria, more than 122,000 cases of Gatorade with undeclared yellow dyes and Once Upon a Farm toddler snack bars pulled over a choking hazard. Bohl, the Elk Grove salad and rice bowl spot owned by former Dutch Bros franchisees Hailey and Kyle Garret, is opening a second location at 10357 Fairway Drive in Roseville in 2027 , serving signature bowls like the “lettuce enter the dragon” and “steak me outside” alongside build-your-own options. Its flagship is at 1735 Arden Way. There is a location in Folsom’s outdoor Palladio Shopping Center at 330 Palladio Parkway and Fukumi Chaya’s original brick and mortar is open in the Pallado Shopping Center as well. My 5 Favorite Wineries Near Folsom
People ask me all the time where they should go wine tasting. After years exploring, tasting, pouring at winery events (will work for wine), and judging in the Foothill Wine Competition, I’ve narrowed it down to my five favorite wineries near Folsom. Each one does something no other winery around here does quite the same way, and together they cover five different wine regions, all within an easy drive of town. So, what do I look for in a winery? Yes, great wine is a must, but that’s not all. Hospitality, the setting, price, and events all come into play. All of these figured out how to deliver.

Sacramento-area salad, rice bowl restaurant to open second location in Roseville
With its beginnings in Elk Grove, a salad and rice bowl restaurant is launching its second location after several months of business. Bohl, which specializes in healthy-food options, is opening a new restaurant at 10357 Fairway Drive in Roseville. The location will open in 2027, according to its instagram. The business is owned by Hailey and Kyle Garret, a married couple who used to run Dutch Bros Coffee franchises in Northern California. The two have been business owners since 2015 and decided to open their own restaurant, they said in an online post. “Through it all, we longed for a place that was fast, customizable, and made with real, high-quality ingredients —a spot where we could eat often and actually feel good about it,” the couple wrote. “But we couldn’t find exactly what we were looking for. So, we decided to create it ourselves.” The Garrets open the first Bohl at 9257 Laguna Springs Drive in March. The Garrets wrote that Bohl was “born out of (their) love for bold flavors (and) fresh food.” One of its signature salads is its “lettuce enter the dragon” bowl with chopped romaine, cucumbers, spicy broccoli, kimchi, grilled chicken and shredded carrots dressed in
