Don Waddell Resigns Post As Hurricanes GM

At some point, people just have to admit Trey is right. For as successful as the Hurricanes are, they continue to come up short because they act like a small market baseball team that cries poor. I mean, the karma gods took care of them as they always do. Does anybody feel sorry for them for letting Vincent Trocheck go to the Rangers for free? Who knows how much power Don Waddell truly has in the organization? It doesn’t matter now because the guy straight up quit.

Waddell has resigned as general manager of the Hurricanes. Long time assistant Eric Tulsky has taken over as the new GM.

“This morning, I spoke with Tom and informed him that I have come to the decision that now is the time for me to move to the next chapter of my career,” said Waddell. “I have loved my experiences in the Triangle over the past 10 years, and together with a strong team, on and off the ice, we have accomplished many great victories. I am grateful for the support I have received from so many loyal Caniacs. This organization is in strong, capable hands and well-positioned for the future.”

Who knows why Waddell quit? Maybe he wanted more money. Maybe ownership was limiting his decision-making ability. All I know is this man straight up quit without having another job lined up. That takes balls and tells you something had to be going on behind the scenes given that this team was winning a fair amount.

Tulsky now takes over and he has his work cut out for him. Peep this list for all the impending free agents the Hurricanes have. Good luck trying to keep all of them.
