Wawa, a restaurant and car wash planned on Route 13 near St. Georges
Travelers on Route 13 near St. Georges have probably noticed construction on land east of the highway near Hyetts Corner Road and the exit for Route 1 and the Roth Bridge. Plans for the 9¾-acre site include a 5,585-square-foot Wawa with gas pumps, a 5,273-square-foot car wash and a 2,045-square-foot fast-food restaurant, according to New Castle County Land Use Department records . The proposal has changed from the first application, which included a bank and a building for retail shops in addition to the Wawa. The price of the land was $2.4 million, sold by the Lester Family Limited Partnership to Hyetts Corner Associates and JFW Properties of Wilmington, according to county deed records . Bordered on the east by Route 1, the triangular site at 2256 DuPont Highway has a Middletown postal address, but it’s between Odessa and St. Georges, just north of Boyds Corner and Pole Bridge roads. There’s already a small Wawa without gas pumps about a half-mile south in the shopping center on the northeast corner of Route 13 and Pole Bridge Road.
