Delaware State Police Investigating Armed Robbery
The Delaware State Police are investigating an armed robbery of a delivery truck that occurred last night in the New Castle area. On June 7, 2023, at approximately 11:16 p.m., troopers responded to the Wawa located at 7 East Commons Boulevard, New Castle for a report of an armed robbery. Troopers arrived on the scene and learned that two suspects approached a tractor-trailer that was parked next to the store while a 27-year-old male victim was in the trailer unloading and delivering products for Wawa. The first suspect walked into the trailer while displaying a firearm toward the victim and began removing cartons of cigarettes. During the robbery, the driver’s assistant, a 23-year-old male, exited the Wawa and was returning to the truck when the second suspect confronted him while displaying a firearm. Both suspects then removed an undisclosed number of cigarette cartons from the delivery truck before fleeing the scene in a dark-colored sedan. The victims were not injured.

The New Castle County Division of Police has issued a Gold Alert for Samily Santiago, a 27-year-old Newark woman who left her residence in the early morning hours of Wednesday (6/7) without her prescribed medication.
