Boys tennis: Sidney, Lehman Catholic seasons end in sectionals
TROY — Sidney and Lehman Catholic’s boys tennis teams had their seasons end in sectional tournament play this week in Troy. In Division I singles matches for Sidney on Wednesday, Brady Hagan beat Piqua’s Trent Townsend 6-1, 6-0 and Trotwood’s Teshawn Smith 6-4, 6-0 before losing 6-1, 6-2 to Tippecanoe’s Deacon Blake. Franky Herrara beat Butler’s Grady Nardecchia 6-1, 6-1 before losing 6-0, 6-0 to Tippecanoe’s Alex Darner. Myles Steenrod lost 6-1, 6-1 to Tippecanoe’s Ty Hoover.

BL and Bellefontaine Softball Posts Playoff Win; Riverside Season Ends
The Benjamin Logan softball team defeated Northwestern 5-2 in the second round of the Sectional Tournament on Friday. Offensively, the team had five hits. Keeli Rostorfer doubled and tallied three RBIs, and Kyndal Cronkleton and Kylie Harner each tripled. Brooks Myers singled and drove in a run, while Libby Siefring also added a hit. The Lady Raiders saw a stellar defensive performance in the top of the sixth inning to spark a three-run spurt in the bottom of the inning. Although Northwestern plated another run in the top of the seventh, Benjamin Logan was able to shut the door and earn the post-season victory.

Lynn Williams scored an early goal and Gotham FC hung on for a 1-0 victory over the Houston Dash in the National Women’s Soccer League. Jaedyn Shaw scored on a penalty kick and the San Diego Wave defeated the expansion Utah Royals 2-0 later on Wednesday. Makenzy Doniak got the Wave’s second goal. The Kansas City Current remained undefeated in a scoreless draw with the Seattle Reign.

Lynn Williams scored the lone goal in the eighth minute and NJ/NY Gotham FC made it hold up for a 1-0 road victory over the Houston Dash on Wednesday night.
