What is a Cash Mob? Each month a selected local business gets mobbed.
This is a great way to support a local business and keep our community thriving.
Stop in today at Punta Gorda Coffee & Tea, 117 Herald Court, make a purchase, take a photo, make a social media post with #pgchambermob, and sign up for a chance to win a gift card. It’s that easy.
Next month’s Cash Mob will be at Hipnotique on Thursday, June 13 from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
All of these events are open to the public and have free admission!
THIRD THURSDAY RETURNS
May 16 will be the long-awaited return of Third Thursday activities in downtown Punta Gorda. It’s from 4-7:30 p.m. and continuing on Thursdays throughout the rest of the year. Please mark May 16 as an evening to spend in downtown Punta Gorda with friends and family.
To make the evening fun and exciting, guests are invited to join in the free poker walk game. Visit each of the participating businesses and make a purchase or donation to the selected cause (May will be for C.A.R.E.) and you get to select a playing card to create your poker hand. Having gotten seven cards, you can check if you think your hand is a winner.
Not happy with your hand? There is an eighth location, where you can exchange a card already in your hand before delivering your completed hand to the judging location, which in May will be F M Dons. Here there will be live music to enjoy as the entries are judged.
The winners will be announced by 8:15 p.m. and you must be present to win. The winner will receive a gift card tree, made up of all the participants in the game. In total, three prizes will be awarded.
Each Third Thursday, the participants in the game will vary, so each month will have different destinations and places to visit. Nonetheless, even if a business is not “in the Game” that month, they will be open till 7:30 p.m. offering you a special reason to visit.
The seven participants for May 16 are: Pomegranate & Fig, J Meraki Beauty Emporium, Illusions Salon & Spa, Wyvern Hotel (exact location to be confirmed), Winesett House Restaurant, Punta Gorda Chocolate & Wine and Becky’s Garden Shoppe. The Wild Card location will be Ortigia Bistro Restaurant, with the results and prize-giving ceremony at F.M. Don’s starting 7.45pm.
All entries must be in by 8 p.m. Buy something at each location to get your card, or make a donation to the C.A.R.E. collection box at those locations where you do not wish to purchase anything. There is a $1 minimum for donations. The entry cards will be available at all seven participating locations so you can start wherever you prefer, starting 4:30 p.m.
This is going to bring energy and vitality to our downtown activities. Each game card will have a downtown map showing you the locations of all those participating. We are so very excited to have this event planned throughout the year for us all to enjoy.
DOWNTOWN BASH
On May 25, the Downtown Bash will return to the steps of the Old Historic Courthouse on Taylor Street from 5-9 p.m. as Tin Can Tourist Productions entertain us and encourage us to dance the night away in the streets. Beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages will be available as well as light snacks. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy the open-air concert brought to you by your Punta Gorda Chamber of Commerce. No coolers please.
In order to present these great events, we need you to support the costs of the band and set up, by buying your liquid refreshments on site.
