Food vendors serve up memories at the Fairfield County Fair
LANCASTER − The Fairfield County Fair provides lots of fun to thousands of visitors each year. From rides, games, meeting old friends and various events during the week, the fair is the heart of the community. One of the main offerings has always been food. And plenty of it. Hungry fairgoers this year could find a variety of items from the chicken and noodles in the dining hall to a burger from a concession stand and everything in between. Under the main grandstand, local high schools offered concessions that feature sandwiches and soup, such as chili. Local church groups also have concessions, like the Cattleman that offered burgers and chicken sandwiches. There was even a vendor this year that offered a vegetarian dish featuring grilled vegetables. That's not something typically seen at a county fair, but it seemed like there was always a people at the stand watching their meals being prepared. Of course, like most any fair, the Fairfield County Fair had the fan favorites like pizza, fries, ice cream, corn dogs, popcorn, candy apples, funnel cake, gyros, cheese curds and much more. Maybe some of the fan favorites are not the most healthy, but they certainly are fun

The new coffee shop will be the fourth owned by husband and wife Tim and Jenn Koenig, who also own Scioto Valley Coffee in Circleville, Millersport Coffee and McConnelsville Coffee. They're expecting to open in late 2027, Tim said. Site development is underway for the 2-acre plot, as crews worked on relocating some underground gas lines Oct. 8. Tim expected a hiatus over the winter before the second phase starts in the spring. "Phase 2 will be when the building goes up and everything else," Tim explained to the Times Recorder. "Depending on the weather (and) what spring looks like, the goal will be around April to get the shell up, and then go from there with the intent to open six (to) eight months later." Tim estimated the entire project would cost between $650,000 and $700,000, including the property purchase and the coffee shop's construction.
