New Alligator River Bridge construction passes halfway point

Construction on the new Alligator River Bridge is more than halfway complete, with crews using new materials and technology to keep the project moving. The new bridge will replace the Lindsay C. Warren Bridge, a swing-span crossing on U.S. 64 between Dare and Tyrrell counties. NCDOT says the replacement will be a fixed-span, high-rise bridge with two 12-foot travel lanes and 8-foot breakdown lanes. The current bridge was built in 1960.
