February 2, 1950 – MARCH 14, /2024 - Anne Fischer was an inquisitive soul. A lifelong learner, she was known for much of her time in Westmoreland as one of the “Cat Posse” while also being active with Cat’s Meow Cat Rescue. Anne was a retired elementary teacher, wrote a Math textbook, was an avid bicyclist, reader, pianist and music lover. She was a member of PMUG (PDX Mac User’s Group), a college group of friends who kept up with each other regularly, and many social groups here in Portland. Anne collected dolls, dollhouses and doll furniture she crafted expertly. She would acquire clothes for her fashion forward dolls; many of them had their own wardrobe. Anne traveled around before she made Portland her home; she lived in the blue house with the magenta door for 36 years.

Born in Pipestone, Minnesota, to Marion K. Fischer and Joseph D. Fischer, she received her BA from CU Boulder and her Master’s from Lewis and Clark College.

She is survived by her family including: brothers Dan and Gene; niece Jennifer Fischer; niece Sarah Olimb and her 4 children Lilija, Haley, Bryn and Leif; niece Megan Fischer; nephew Chris Fischer and his 2 children, Madeline and Theo. Anne is also survived by many neighbors and friends. Her brother Dan wrote, “…In remembering Anne and celebrating her life, there is only one appropriate tribute I can make: to salute her friends.”

There will be a Celebration of Life on June 1, 2024 from 3PM-5PM. It will be at the SMILE Station, 8210 SE 13th Ave. Portland, OR 97202. PLEASE RSVP as space is limited. RSVP, Phyllis pboregon@comcast.net. Please donate generously to Cat’s Meow Cat Rescue, PO Box 68222, Milwaukie, OR 97268.
