Hidden In Lake Champlain's 'Inland Sea' Is A Secluded Island State Park With Camping And Water Activities

Also known as the "Inland Sea," Lake Champlain's northeastern arm is naturally sheltered from the rest of the lake by a protective chain of large islands called Hero Islands. Hidden in these waters are three state parks: Burton, Woods, and Knight Island. The latter measures 1 mile from end to end and a ½ mile across, but its 185-acre surface area offers a secluded escape for those who'd like to reconnect with nature. Knight Island State Park is a remote and undeveloped wilderness destination, where you're free to roam across the entire place (with the sole exception of an off-limits enclave on the southern shore). Here, you get to take advantage of activities like off-the-grid camping, swimming, boating, and hiking on Lake Champlain.

SCHROON LAKE | In recent years, a new wave of little art galleries have risen out of creativity. It originally started by two art teachers in Nashville, Tennessee in 2016 as a way to bring the community together and inspire creativity. Long-time Burlington BBQ joint closes its doors

Bluebird Barbecue, a Burlington staple for slow-smoked meats, shut down this Halloween. The restaurant was set to serve curbside takeout until closing time on Saturday as a final sendoff. "It's time for Bluebird to say goodbye," owner Sue Bette said in a press release. "We wish Bluebird could continue on, but the conditions just aren't lining up for Bluebird to be Bluebird.” The barbecue restaurant had been roasting brisket, chopping beef and shredding coleslaw at 317 Riverside Ave. since 2012. Customers could chow down menu items like the “Family Reunion,” piled high with hickory-smoked meat that’s been cooking for 15 hours. The cuisine put a local spin on American classics, with maple-doused sauce or butter and pulled-pork poutine. Bluebird’s pitmaster ramen, which combined the burnt ends of slow-smoked brisket with Japanese noodle soup, earned a visit from TV personality and chef Guy Fieri for the popular Food Network show “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives” in 2020. Bette and the rest of the Bluebird Barbecue staff had no further comment on the restaurant’s closure, a representative told the Burlington Free Press last week. "As we send Bluebird off, we want to recognize all the Bluebirds, past and present, whose talent, creativity, and
