POUGHKEEPSIE – Independence Day is going to be a blast in Poughkeepsie again this year. The city has announced it will once again host its annual Independence Day Fireworks show on Thursday, July 4, shortly after nightfall. Traditionally, the show kicks off with a bang around 9:20 p.m., with hundreds of people watching the show for free from Waryas Park where Main Street meets the mighty Hudson River.

State pushes public comment period for Hudson Highlands Fjord Trail to early fall
FISHKILL – Hudson Highlands Fjord Trail, Inc. (HHFT) says the DGEIS public comment period for the Hudson Highlands Fjord Trail has been shifted by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation to early fall 2024 to allow for thorough data collection and review by affected municipalities, including Fishkill, Beacon, and Cold Spring. The data collection includes pedestrian counts, traffic study, and visitation projections for the trail.
