Neillsville Fire Department Responds to Manure/Silage Fire
The Neillsville Fire Department responded to a manure/silage fire Thursday evening. According to Neillsville Fire Chief Matt Meyer, they received a call of a manure/silage fire around 10:30pm on Thursday at N719 Meads Avenue in the Township of Levis. When they arrived, a manure/silage pile was smoldering with visible embers. The homeowner has been burning a day or two before and a spark had gotten into the pile.
Hansen Schumann Enters Plea for Soliciting Homicide Charges in Wood County
WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU) — A Wood County jail inmate has entered a plea for charges of solicitation of intentional homicide. Jesse Hansen-Schumann entered a not guilty plea on Thursday. Investigators believe he was plotting to kill two Wood County correctional officers because they had previously held him accountable for disciplinary infractions. According to the complaint Hansen-Schumann had filed more than 40 grievances against the officers, saying they were making up lies about him.

Port Edwards Man Sentenced for OWI Incident in Weston
WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A Port Edwards man will serve time in the state prison system for a 5th OWI following a crash in Weston. Thomas Shelley was sentenced to 18 months in prison and 30 months (two and a half years) without a driver’s license for the incident, which occurred in May of 2022.

MADISON, Wis. (WSAW) - The Wisconsin DNR has announced that DNR Conservation Warden Lt. Bryan Lockman was awarded the Warden of the Year for 2022. Lockman, a 22-year veteran of the agency, is often described by colleagues as humble, dedicated, empathetic, and rock-solid steady. WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (WSAW) - A member of the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters family is facing a long road to recovery. In August, 2023 Northwoods League All-Star pitcher Jacob Rosenkranz suffered a traumatic brain injury in practice at Missouri Baptist University. A ball hit Rosenkranz in his left temple. He suffered a skull fracture and brain bleed.
