PISCATAWAY, NJ – May is Older Americans Month and to mark the tradition, thirty-five seniors aged 90 and above from throughout the county gathered at the Piscataway Senior Center on Friday for Middlesex County’s annual 90+ Birthday Celebration and Luncheon.

“May is recognized as Older Americans Month and has become a tradition of recognizing the contributions and needs of the county’s oldest residents,” said Laila Caune, Executive Director, Office of Aging and Disabled Services.  “We are pleased and honored to recognize those older adults who have reached a real milestone in life: individuals who have passed 90 years of age and even a few who have surpassed 100 years.”

The seniors traveled to Piscataway for the luncheon, from such towns as Dunellen, Highland Park, Middlesex Borough, New Brunswick, Piscataway, and South Plainfield.

"As the number of older adults who call Middlesex County home continues to rise, you all continue to enrich our communities through your experiences and by sharing your strength, resilience, and diligence,” said Caune. “We celebrate the many ways that older adults make a difference in their communities and our lives.”

Mayor Brian Wahler presented the honorees with a certificate of recognition to honor their longevity, including the three oldest in attendance:
