Moped rider killed in crash on I-80 in Oakland
A moped rider died in a crash with a big-rig Tuesday morning on eastbound Interstate 80 just east of the Bay Bridge in Oakland, according to the California Highway Patrol. The crash, first reported at about 7:30 a.m., occured on eastbound I-80 at the transition ramp to southbound I-880, the CHP said.

OAKLAND – A federal grand jury has indicted four people, alleging they conspired with an Oakland street gang to rob several high-end Bay Area retail stores.The indictment of Jakari Jenkins, Demarco Barnett, Garland Rabon, and Keanna Smith-Stewart, filed April 18 and unsealed Friday, alleges that by March 2022, the four defendants were all members of, or had association with, an Oakland-based street gang called the Ghost Town gang. Crime numbers down in Oakland, police data shows
New data shows crime is on the decline in Oakland. Oakland Police Department data shows a 33% decrease in overall crime this year compared to a year ago. Homicides are down 17%, assaults are down 7%, rapes are down 21% and burglaries are down 50%, according to the OPD numbers.
