An Arizona woman gave birth inside of a minivan in a hospital parking lot two hours after nurses had sent her home, her family claims, according to a report.

Scherazade Vedarte-Gonzalez was just feet from the emergency room at Banner Casa Grande Medical Center in Phoenix when she gave birth to a healthy girl, Luzbella, early Monday morning.

“It was really traumatic,” Lucy Villanueva, Vedarte-Gonzalez’s mother, told WSMV .

Vedarte-Gonzelez was in a lot of pain last week and she went to the hospital on three separate occasions to make sure everything was OK, but was sent home every time, her mother said.

Vedate-Gonzelz’s pain worsened when she got back home and they sped back to the hospital just two hours later.

“She said, ‘Mom, it’s coming! We got to go!’” Villanueva said. “‘It’s coming! I feel it. It’s already coming out,’ and I couldn’t believe it … when I opened the door, I saw the head already.”

“I didn’t know what to do. I just placed the baby on her and I ran inside and I said ‘Help! help! You know, she’s having a baby! The baby’s out!’” she told WSMV.

The new mother received treatment in the parking lot before she was admitted back to the hospital.

Banner Casa Grande Medical Center refuted the family’s claims and said Vedarte-Gonzelez went home on her own accord.

“Scherazade Luz Vedarte-Gonzalez was seen and assessed prior to delivery. She was not in active labor and chose to go home,” the hospital told the outlet in a statement. “She delivered several hours later. We are happy that both Ms. Vedarte-Gonzalez and her baby are doing well following delivery.”
