ODOT: Ohio 146 road closure and lane restriction on I-70
ZANESVILLE − The Ohio Department of Transportation has announced work for this week for Ohio 284 and Interstate 70. Resurfacing and related work on Ohio 284 from the Morgan and Muskingum County line to Ohio 146 will be ongoing through October. Starting Wednesday, the road will be closed to through traffic for 60 days with local traffic being maintained. The suggested detour is Ohio 284 to Ohio 146 to Ohio 340 to Ohio 284 and reverse for the other direction.

ZANESVILLE − Julie Irvin chuckles a little when she recounts how her and husband’s new wedding and event venue, Belle Brooke Ranch at 1185 Holders Lane, came to be.“It didn’t start out as a business at all,” she laughed of how she and her husband, Daren, actually got the venue going, breaking ground in July of 2020. “We have a very large family — my husband is one of 10 children, and our immediate family is 60 strong and growing. We’ve outgrown everyone’s homes to have a party. So, the original plan was to build a small building we could host our family celebrations. And that‘s how it started.”The Genesis HealthCare employee said the next thing that happened was someone asked if they’d be willing to rent the soon-to-be-built building.

JACKSONTOWN − The Ohio Department of Transportation has announced Ohio 555 will be closed between Bush Hill and Morningstar roads for 5 days beginning Monday, for an embankment slip repair. Detour is Ohio 555 to Ohio 669, to Ohio 93, to US 22, to Ohio 719 to Ohio 555.

Trial postponed in financial dispute over Ohio ancient earthworks deemed World Heritage site
A trial to determine how much Ohio's historical society must pay to restore public access to a set of ancient ceremonial earthworks that has been leased for over a century to a country club has been rescheduled for July 15. The 2,000-year-old Octagon Earthworks near Newark in central Ohio are part of the Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks network named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in September. Native Americans constructed the earthworks, including eight long earthen walls, that correspond to lunar movements. Things to do: Fishing derby just for children planned this weekend at Dillon Lake
Dillon Lake and partners Combat To Kayaks will host a free kids' fishing derby on Saturday and Sunday. There is no cost to register, but kids must be pre-registered at https://combat2kayaks.org. Gift bags will be given to each registered child. The rankings will be determined by the total combined length of fish caught by each child over the course of the event. COLUMBUS – The Alzheimer's Association Central Ohio Chapter is holding to free community events in Zanesville. A presentation on the 10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer's will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. June 3 at the Muskingum County Center for Seniors. Participants will learn how to recognize common signs of the disease, how to approach someone about memory concerns, the importance of early detection and benefits of a diagnosis, possible tests and assessments for the diagnostic process and Alzheimer's Association resources.
