Marietta City Council issues statement on proposed pool closure
MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP) - The Marietta City Council is distancing itself from Mayor Josh Schlicher’s intent to keep the Marietta Aquatic Center closed this summer. A statement issued by the council Wednesday said the mayor’s announcement that he plans to close the Aquatic Center came as a surprise. According to the statement, city council doesn’t have any power to open or close the Aquatic Center. They say only the mayor has that authority.

Art in the Alley event to take place in Marietta Mother’s Day Weekend
MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP) - A free community art event in Marietta next month will showcase artworks from local residents. An Art in the Alley event will take place from May 10 to 12 in the alley between Eighth and Ninth Streets in Marietta, close to the Oak Grove Cemetery. Art created by local people will be displayed in the alley over Mother’s Day Weekend.

However, due to unique circumstances, Warren baseball played host to Fort Frye for a “one and a half header” on Wednesday. After a game between the Warriors and Cadets had to be suspended due to darkness on the 8th of April, the teams decided to pick the game up where they left off when they met again on the 17th.

Morning showers lead to a sunny and very warm afternoon. This is giving us the chance for severe storms as a cold front moves through this evening. We are under a slight (2/5) risk for severe weather as the cold front moves through. The main threats for severe weather will be large hail (about the size of a quarter) and damaging winds (up to 60 mph). There is also a chance for an isolated tornado to spin up as the front moves through. The storms will likely move through this evening between 6 and 10 p.m.
